Eveve: Opentable´s Most Accomplished Competitor in America

Thousands of restaurants use Opentable to provide their online bookings capability which is a sound choice as Opentable is a large and well respected international company in the industry. Historically Opentable has lacked competition, however, and a lack of competitors is ultimately bad for restaurateurs. The good news is that Opentable now has serious competition in the form of Eveve, which provides live reservation systems for restaurants. Eveve has grown over the last 5 years to become one of Opentable’s principal competitors in Europe, North America and Australasia. Restaurants have switched from Opentable to the competition, Eveve, for the following key reasons.

Save Money

Opentable´s business model, based on a vertical, per-diner pricing model means fees can be expensive, particularly for busier restaurants. Ex-Opentable customers have always made significant savings when joining Eveve. Competitive savings of 60-70% are typical, and in some instances 90% reductions in fees have been realised.

Comparable Online Bookings

Restaurants which have switched booking system from Opentable to Eveve typically receive comparable numbers of reservations per month. Indeed several restaurants, such as Hell’s Kitchen, Bar La Grassa and Meritage have actually experienced modest increases in online reservations after joining Eveve from the competition.

Retain customers

For a restaurant using Opentable, when a customer books dinner through their own website, the diner is offered to sign up with Opentable; needs to agree to the Opentable privacy policy; and after completion of the reservation, is prompted (through the “Make Another Reservation” tab) to go to Opentable to make further reservations, (rather than the restaurant´s website) where the other listed restaurants will be the competition. What restaurant would want to encourage its diners to eat at other, competitor restaurants?

Proven Track Record

Eveve has fully migrated almost 200 restaurants from Opentable in the USA and UK. No competitor has fully displaced more Opentable ERB systems in the America. Moreover, Eveve has proved it can handle the heavy lifting with some of America´s busiest restaurants (those consistently managing over 5,000 online diners per month) and several restaurants have now been with Eveve over three years since switchover. In Minnesota, so many of the busiest restaurants have moved to Eveve, that the company is now the number one provider in the Midwestern State by online reservations placed, and a staggering nine of the top ten busiest independents in the Twin Cities choose Eveve over a competitor.

First Class Technology

Most restaurants which switch to Eveve from Opentable are large, high volume establishments, which need a serious table management solution, but find per-cover booking fees difficult to accept. Eveve differentiates itself from the competition, because its flagship software, TELOS, is the only table management system with the breadth of functionality, user-friendliness and stability which the most discerning restaurants require from their bookings technology. For restaurants which want to save money, but are not prepared to compromise on the quality of the ERB (Electronic Reservation Book), Eveve is the only viable competitive alternative to Opentable.
